Research also suggests that open-source can be more secure, with a 2022 report by Red Hat finding that most IT leaders consider enterprise open-source software to be as secure or more secure than proprietary alternatives.

It seems that the debate over open-source vs closed-source in crypto is far from over, with both sides having valid arguments. As the industry continues to evolve, it will be important to weigh the pros and cons of each approach to determine the best way forward for security and innovation.
