Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) Approves Ripple's RLUSD Stablecoin
Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) has given the green light to Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin, which can now be used by companies in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) for various virtual asset services such as payments, treasury management, and more. This approval is in line with the DFSA's crypto framework, which allows only tokens recognized by the regulator to be used across the district's regulated ecosystem.
Ripple has expressed huge interest from businesses in the UAE in crypto solutions, particularly cross-border payments and digital asset custody services. The company is also working with several local partners, including digital bank Zand and fintech platform Mamo, which are expected to be early adopters of its regulated payment services.
The RLUSD stablecoin will also support the Dubai Land Department's real estate tokenization initiative, which aims to record title deeds on the XRP Ledger. This project is a major step forward for blockchain technology in the real estate sector.
Apart from RLUSD, the DFSA has recognized Circle-issued stablecoins USDC and EURC, and approved their use in the DIFC free economic zone. This shows that Dubai is committed to fostering a robust and secure virtual asset ecosystem.
