Film Box Office: Doraemon Still on Top, Hypnosis Mic Interactive Film Shines

Doraemon: Nobita's Art World Tales, the latest installment in the popular Doraemon franchise, has held onto its #1 spot at the Japanese box office for a fifth consecutive weekend. According to data from comScore via KOFIC, the film sold 263,000 tickets for 322,675,900 yen (about US$2.19 million) from Friday to Sunday, bringing its total ticket sales to 3.17 million and its cumulative gross to 3,791,928,400 yen (about US$25.83 million).

Meanwhile, the Hypnosis Mic -Division Rap Battle- interactive film has seen a significant rise to #6 in its seventh weekend, with 97,478,300 yen (about US$664,000) in ticket sales from Friday to Sunday. The film has now sold a total of 440,000 tickets and earned a cumulative total of 1,074,780,400 yen (about US$7.32 million).

The live-action film of Mashiro's My Love Story With Yamada-kun at Lv999 manga, starring Ryūto Sakuma and Mizuki Yamashita, dropped from #5 to #7 in its second weekend, earning 46,890,960 yen (about US$319,400) and a cumulative total of 204,813,320 yen (about US$1.39 million).
