Abrams ComicArts' Kana Imprint Licenses City Hunter and Cat's Eye Manga for Omnibus Editions
Kana, an imprint of Abrams ComicArts, has recently confirmed that it has licensed the popular manga series City Hunter and Cat's Eye, with plans to release both series in omnibus editions. The publisher announced that it will release the first three volumes of the original manga, featuring new English translations, on September 9.
City Hunter, which follows the story of Ryo Saeba, a marksman and sleazeball who takes on underground odd jobs to clean up Tokyo's nightlife, will be released in a deluxe omnibus edition with 582 pages in paperback and a dust jacket. The book will include six pages of full-color inserts and retail for US$26.99.
Meanwhile, Cat's Eye, a series that follows the story of the three sisters Rui, Ai, and Hitomi, who lead double lives as café owners and art thieves, will also launch in a deluxe omnibus edition with 602 pages, including 16 full-color insert pages and 48 pages of two-color inserts. The book will retail for the same price as City Hunter.
Both series have gained immense popularity worldwide, with City Hunter having sold over 50 million volumes worldwide. The manga has inspired numerous anime adaptations, including four television anime series, one earlier anime film, and several video and television specials. Cat's Eye, on the other hand, has inspired two television anime seasons and a new anime in development.
The new omnibus editions will be available for pre-order on Abrams' website.
