Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle - Akaza Sairai Surpasses One Piece Film Red as 6th Highest-Earning Film in Japan

Aniplex announced on Tuesday that Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle - Akaza Sairai, the first film in the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle trilogy, has sold 15,698,202 tickets for 22,072,191,500 yen (approximately US$148.7 million) in its 25 days at the Japanese box office. This milestone surpasses One Piece Film Red as the 6th highest-earning film of all time in Japan.

The film has also broken various records, including the fastest film to earn 10 billion yen, beating its predecessor Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train. The film opened in Japan on July 18 and sold 5,164,348 tickets for 7,315,846,800 yen (approximately US$49.3 million) over the four-day long weekend.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle - Akaza Sairai is currently playing on 443 screens throughout Japan, including IMAX screenings. The film is expected to be released in over 150 countries and regions outside of Japan, a broader reach than its predecessor. Aniplex aims to screen the film in the United States and Canada on September 12.
