Bitwise has listed four crypto exchange-traded products (ETPs) on the London Stock Exchange, marking a further push into European markets and expanding institutional access to Bitcoin and Ethereum without requiring direct custody of assets.
The products, which include two Bitcoin and two Ethereum ETPs, are designed to align with institutional compliance standards, using regulated custody and trustee safeguards. They are structured as physically backed ETPs, meaning they hold actual Bitcoin or Ethereum in cold storage, contrasts with synthetic products, offering more transparency and reducing counterparty and credit risk.
The Bitwise Core Bitcoin ETP emphasizes long-term, cost-efficient exposure, while the Bitwise Physical Bitcoin ETP is geared toward active trading, with a five-year track record. The Ethereum-focused offerings include a standard physical ETP and a staking-linked version that distributes rewards.
The products are available only to professional investors in the UK but listing on the LSE, one of Europe's most liquid and trusted exchanges, offers a foothold in one of the continent's most active financial centers.
